By Frank Finale
This luminous sea of light green
glass ripples with sun over
waves of sand where clam and oyster
shells lay half buried, emptied
of their other halves
and tiny fish, like spots before
the eyes after light-flashes,
dart back and forth over white
pebbles and a mermaid’s purse.
These placid pools seem
deep as the ocean itself —
reflect the sky. At night
phosphorescent creatures and stars
deepen the pool even more.
