The ship’s light dims.
Dark water surrounds it,
Still and quiet in the evening air.
Your memory echoes off its bow
And fills the night with silence.
Stars shine their light for you,
Casting shadows on the bay,
Reflecting a life well lived, recalled
Over and over again with each sweep of the lightship’s beam.
You are not forgotten.
