Sea glass hides beneath the ocean,
Waiting to be found when tides are low
And waves are farthest from the shore.
Under a moonless sky, dark water washes up bits of colored glass,
Revealed, as if by magic, when sunlight strikes them,
Shimmering, awaiting discovery.
I, too, wait for the tides of life to reveal a new color of my journey,
A joy in each new day.
I, too, find unexpected gifts even when I am farthest from my shore.
Sadness, like the beach at night, hides beauty waiting to be found.
And in the low tide of a sorrowful heart,
The promise of hope shimmers like a small piece of sea glass awaiting its reveal.
